"Everything is capable of renewal."

Christian faith in salvation and liberation is based on a fundamental conviction that nothing in the world is simply fated to be. there is nothing in the universe that simply cannot be helped. No evil is so impregnable as to be absolutely irremediable. Everything is capable of renewal, and the world is destined to realize the utopia of the reign of God.

I can't tell you how many times I've fumbled while trying to put this truth into words. Thanks for this.

Strong words, and comforting. There's a phrase in Zechariah 9:12 - "prisoners of hope" - that I think is illuminated by what Boff has to say. All the hurting and struggle and brokenness in Haiti seem to fly in the face of this... Thanks for this exhortation to be part of the help, remedy and renewal that God is even now working in the world.

Amen...good to hear when all around tends to despair...connects for me with Wright (and Paul) on the ongoing repercussions of the resurrection, which go on in spite of all seeming contrary happenings. The exhortation to be part of the help and remedy is very welcome.
